We’re seeking an experienced WordPress Developer who is passionate about building high-quality, maintainable, and efficient websites and web applications. In this role, you will be working within a dynamic team and will be responsible for both backend and frontend development, with an emphasis on creating exceptional user experiences through responsive and accessible web design. Your expertise will extend to customizing WordPress functionality, developing/maintaining custom Gutenberg blocks using React, and maintaining modern development workflows and testing practices . What You Will Do: Maintain existing WordPress websites and applications, ensuring high performance and scalability. Create and manage custom Gutenberg blocks, utilizing React to enhance user experiences. Implement custom PHP code and integrate custom workflows within WordPress projects. Write clear, maintainable code adhering to modern coding standards and practices. Conduct thorough unit testing and debugging to ensure functionality and reliability. Collaborate closely with designers, project managers, and other developers to translate requirements into technical solutions. Ensure processes, issues and features are clearly documented and communicated to team members and stakeholders. Ensure websites meet responsive design and accessibility standards, optimizing user experience across various devices and assistive technologies. Manage and configure local development environments using Docker for consistency and efficiency. Continuously stay updated with emerging web technologies and WordPress developments to drive innovation and improvement within the team. What You'll Bring To The Role: Minimum 5 years of WordPress development experience, including custom theme and plugin development. Strong knowledge of PHP and comfort working across various PHP versions. Expertise with JavaScript, specifically React, for creating dynamic frontend components. Experience developing, customizing, and maintaining Gutenberg blocks. Bonus if you have: Familiarity with modern frontend tooling, such as Webpack or Vite. Experience writing unit tests using PHP testing frameworks (e.g., PHPUnit). Solid understanding of responsive web design principles, including mobile-first development practices. Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices, and ability to apply them effectively. Experience setting up and managing local development environments using Docker. The salary offered to the successful candidate will be determined based on multiple individual factors such as their skills, specialized knowledge, professional qualifications, experience, geographic location and the responsibilities of the position. The total compensation package for this position may also include elements in addition to salary which will be communicated in writing to the successful candidate in an offer of employment.
